Gus, Gus

Ella's preschool has a pet guinea pig and they allow the students to take turns taking him home for the weekend. Since Ella didn't have school at the end of the week due to parent/teacher conferences... we got to take him home on a Wednesday and didn't have to take him back until the next Tuesday... WOW - lucky US! Anyway, the kids really enjoyed him. He ate carrots and lettuce and formed a bond with Penny who thought he was her personal long lost love...the two would whine and squeak to each other all day. So charming. Guinea pigs do this thing called 'popcorning' where they hop and jump all around the cage when excited. Oh joy, what a lovely mess it made. I was not in love with Gus. I mean, I already have to clean up enough messes around the house, but I am glad the kids had a fun weekend with him.

And now for Grandmothers

Grandmas are amazing. They give their time unselfishly, their love overflows, always ready to do a craft, open arms to hold a baby, never run out of energy and the kisses/snuggles and baked goods... well, they speak for themselves. We love them so much.

A note about Grandpa's

Our kids LOVE their grandfathers. Henry, especially, is so cute when it comes to grandpas... he loves 'em. Doug and Chip... they are always funny, always ready to play, always ready to wrestle and the make the best pillows. We are very lucky to have two of the best around!

Splish Splash

Betty started a Parent/Tot swim class with Phil a couple of weeks ago. We actually did the same thing with Ella and Henry when they were her age. She loved the first night but last week didn't go as well. We'll see how the rest of the class plays out but I was lucky to capture some photos the first night. She enjoyed splashing and the singing. We're gearing up for warmer weather and some serious pool time this summer.

First Girls Trip

Ella and I went to AZ for my brother's holiday concert at the Univ. of N. Arizona (he's a senior.) It was our first girls trip and we had so much fun. The weekend was very special. On Thursday, we flew into Phoenix, rented a VW Bug (Slugbug), ate at the Cheesecake Factory, swam in the pool where we stayed in Scottsdale. Next day, met up with Granny & GranDad and drove to Flagstaff for the show. The show was long for a 5 year old but she loved watching Uncle Elliot and the girls sing. We came home on Sunday and really had so much fun. I could not get over how mature Ella was and how much fun we had together. It was a really special time where we got to really spend some good time together. I'll cherish it for a very long time.
